At the Top, now they have to stay there...

After two good wins over the weekend, the Winterhawks now sit in first place in the US Division. It is too early to say the Hawks will ride this all the way to March, but so far the Hawks have stood up to the tests thrown at them.

It was really nice to see the team come roaring back last night in Kamloops and while following the game to have the feeling that this game was not over at the end of the second with Portland being down 2-0. This is a different Portland team... not only do they have the attitude that they are in every game, they are going out there and showing it. It is early, but if you look at the standings, Kamloops is leading the BC division... and Portland beat them in their building with a good come from behind effort. It shows that Portland is going to go in with the attitude that they are there to win the game and will keep working and pressing until the game is over to make that happen.

While the Hawks with 10 points are not leading the WHL in points, they are tied with Calgary with the highest win percentage... again, it is early, but nice to see. Portland is 5-1, with 3 wins already on the road. The Hawks have a chance to get their 4th road win in Everett on Wednesday before coming home to the MC for a rematch with TC (10 minutes in the second cost Portland the first meeting) and Prince Albert. So far the hockey has been fun to watch and both games this weekend should be more of the same...
