Monday Minute - Tuesday 10/27

Well a day late this week, but I waited to see how the first Hawkey Talk Pizza Update show from Stark Street Pizza went last night...

First, over all the Hawks had a very nice trip through the Central Division. Portland ended up... 4-2 on the trip and besides the Red Deer drilling the team competed and came home with a winning record.

This is junior hockey, and in the end nights like Everett and Red Deer are going to happen. If the team learns from the those games and builds some character then all the better. One of the players last night commented that getting drilled on occasion reminds them that any team can win on any night and Portland is not going to sneak up on anyone anymore.

Tonight is Brandon, another Eastern team. Portland is 1-0 against the East and 5-2 overall against the Eastern Conference. Brandon is a good team, and will be a good challenge for the Hawks. Reminder to anyone going to the game, The Blazers are opening their NBA season tonight as well so parking and traffic will be an issue... Hopefully Portland fans will be on hand to welcome the Hawks back to the MC and help keep the team rolling. Portland is tied for first place int the US Division points wise, but has played three more games then co leader Tri Cities. Portland needs this win before a home and home with Spokane over the weekend.

Back to last night... a good crowd was on hand as Luke Walker, Stephan Schneider, Chris Francis and Brett Ponich visited with the Portland faithful. Some of the highlights included learning some interesting things about the players. For instance we learned that Brett Ponich is a huge Lord of the Rings fan, and Luke Walker enjoys techno dance music, Stephan Schneider likes the color green the most and Chris Francis likes Audi's and Mary Ann over Ginger...

The next Hawkey Talk Pizza Update Show is scheduled at Stark Street Pizza for November 23rd. Hope to see you all there next time, as well as at the MC tonight for Brandon.
