March 9th...

Well tonight is the regular season finale at home for your Hawks. In looking at the last three games of the season, tonight may very well be the toughest test of the three for the Hawks. Everett is trying to steal the number 1 seed away from TC and will be loaded up and ready to play tonight at the MC. It really is too bad that after having the home final be the last game of the season for several years now, the Hawks end the regular season at home on a Tuesday of all things, and to boot the Blazers are playing as well so parking is going to be crazy.

I would like to see a couple of things tonight. First, I would like to see Mac play in net and really step up and grab that job for the playoffs. Coach Johnston has said he is wanting to pick one for the playoffs, and over the past couple of weeks neither has come out and played consistently like the want to be the guy. Mac can and needs to do this tonight. (My guess is that Ian starts now that I have mentioned Mac needs to go take the job, but that is why I am the fan and Mike Johnston is the coach.) Second and as important to me is the Hawks need to play like the playoffs start tonight. They need to have that we are against the world attitude and go out and play like it means something. You never know in this league when you will get that chance to have a special run and if these boys want to make some history, then they need to start playing like it now.

I really feel the weak link is goal tending right now and one of these guys needs to step up and grab that ring as they say... The last play off experience was behind a young 16 year old goalie, so youth is not a bad thing. One of them just needs to step up and take control between the pipes.
